Towards the end of the SCSC Programme, students of SCSC 05 conducted the “Exercise INTSINZI” from 19 May 2017 to 2 June 2017. The indoor exercise is designed as a one player exercise, where all students take part either as staff within a Combined Joint Task Force Headquarters (CJTFHQ) or as part of a Component Headquarters (CHQ). Since it is a controlled exercise, RDFCSC DS play both the JHQ HICON and the Component Units LOCON.
The Exercise INTSINZI is set at the operational level and the scenario comprises an intervention operation, expeditionary in nature, which presents realistic planning challenges to be faced and solved by commanders and their staff at CJTFHQ and CHQ respectively.
The aim of the exercise was to familiarize and practice students in the planning and conduct of a joint and multinational campaign in the context of an intervention operation.
The main objectives of the exercise include to enhance students’ understanding of operational art, for them to be able to: apply the manoeuvrist approach within a joint and combined environment; undertake campaign planning through the application of the campaign planning concepts; produce a campaign plan together with its related key supporting staff work; produce and deliver joint operation orders verbally and in writing; and conduct concurrent contingency planning during an operation.
