Rwanda hosted a Workshop on the 2016 African Conference of Commandants of Staff Colleges in Kigali from 8 to 10 June 2016.
A Workshop of the 2016 African Conference of Commandants (ACoC) of Staff Colleges was held at Lemigo Hotel in Kigali Rwanda, from 8 to 10 June 2016. The workshop normally brings together Directing Staff (DS) of African Staff Colleges and stands as a technical organ of the ACoC. The workshop was opened on 8 June 2016 by Col Justus Majyambere, Chief Instructor at the RDF Command and Staff College, on behalf of the Commandant, also current Chair of the African Conference of Commandants, Maj Gen Jean Bosco Kazura.
In his opening remarks, Col Majyambere noted that the workshop was to work out mechanisms to promote harmonization, interoperability, commonality, standardization and cooperation between African Colleges, as a significant contribution to African Standby Forces and Peace support Operations on the African continent.
Countries represented in the workshop were the Republics of Angola, Botswana, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Uganda and Zambia.
The ACoC is a forum that brings together Commandants of Staff Colleges to discuss ways of enhancing military professionalism in Africa, through education, training and development of officers in African Staff Colleges.
The Commandant of RDF Command and Staff College, Maj Gen Jean Bosco Kazura was unanimously elected by his peers as the Conference Chairman during the 2015 ACoC meeting in Lusaka Zambia. The 2016 ACoC meeting will be held in Kigali Rwanda in November 2016 under the theme “Challenges of interoperability and future concepts of multinational operations”.
The three day workshop was closed on 10 June 2016.
